Introduction DSLR cameras
This 2.5 hour hands-on class is intended for those who want to take better pictures with their DLSR. We identify and learn to adjust the major camera features, discuss lens, aperture, shutter speed, and ISO. You are given time to practice, ask questions and take home several projects to hone your new skills.
Intermediate DSLR cameras
Building on the Introductory class, this 3 hour hands-on class is intended for those who are comfortable using their DLSR camera and want to improve their skills. We first review your images taken as part of the Introduction to DSLR class, then go into new topics: composition, white balance, flashes and image file types, with in-class practice exercises and several take home projects to reinforce what you’ve learned.
Advanced DSLR cameras
This 3 hour hands-on class extends on the Intermediate DSLR class for those who want to improve their skills. We start with a review of the images you took since the previous class, discuss equipment; tripods and monopods, camera bags, and more about composition, exposure bracketing, and a discussion of editing software, and backup choices. In-class exercises and several home projects reinforce what you have learned.
Shooting around the clock
Often the best shots are when the sun is low, and shadows long, which is early morning and late afternoon. This class consists of four field outings, early morning, noon, late afternoon, and after dark to practice shooting under these different conditions.
Flash Photography
Once natural light is insufficient, we must start using flashes. Find out how to avoid squinty eyes when taking portraits outside, why the homily of facing your subjects into the sun is often wrong. Why the flash does not belong on the camera and that professional cameras do not have built-in flashes.
Introduction to Adobe Photoshop Elements
This class is intended for those unfamiliar with using Adobe Photoshop Elements for editing images. Topics covered are: Importing and exporting images, using RAW images, organizing your images, the Organizer and Editor, simple ways to improve your images, introduction to layers, filters and masks. For this class you must supply your own computer. Classes can be held at your location.
Students must provide their own computer and DSLR. Please bring the DSLR manual to all classes.
Price $75 per student per outing or class
