Introduction to your DSLR
This class is intended for those who want to learn the parts of your camera, the basic settings and how the settings improve your pictures. Discussion includes selecting and using tripods, monopods, and camera bags. You are given time to practice, ask questions and take home several projects to hone your new skills.
Introduction to Exposure: Shutter Speed, Depth of Field, and ISO
This class is intended for those who want to take better pictures with their DLSR. We identify and learn to adjust the major factors impacting exposure and depth of field; aperture, shutter speed, and ISO. You are given time to practice, ask questions and take home several projects to hone your new skills.
Intermediate Exposure and White Balance
This class is intended for those who want to practice exposure and learn how to improve their picture colors. You are taught to set the correct white balance for the environment and continue learning about exposure. You are given time to practice, ask questions and take home several projects to hone your new skills.
Introduction to Flash
Once natural light is insufficient to create the desired image, we must start using flashes. Find out how to avoid squinty eyes when taking portraits outside and why the homily of facing your subjects into the sun is often wrong.
Improve your pictures by creatively using your external flash both on and off your camera. Learn to manage shadows to improve your composition. If you do not already own an external flash, by the end of the class you will be able to select a flash meeting your needs. Your education will be improved With in-class practice exercises and several take home projects.
Shooting around the clock
Often the best shots are when the sun is low, and shadows long, which is early morning and late afternoon. This class consists of four field outings, early morning, noon, late afternoon, and after dark to practice shooting under these different conditions.
